The one mission
Jesus gave us all.

There are nations on this earth where saying the name of Jesus costs everything. You know them. You have prayed for them. And through this ministry, you have helped send the Gospel into the middle of them. That is not a small thing. That is the Great Commission, lived out.

We sat down with our President, Jason Law, to ask a few questions about the name change. Here are some excerpts from that discussion:

World Compassion is changing its name. Moving forward, we will operate as OneCoMission.

This conversation is not new. For over a decade, our leadership has wrestled with whether the time was right to make this change. I had many of those conversations personally with my dad and our founder, Terry Law, before he passed. In that season, the wisdom was to wait.

One of the things I admired most about my dad was his willingness to adapt as God opened new doors. The mission never changed, but he was never afraid to change the methods if it meant reaching more people with the Gospel. I believe this name change reflects that same heart.

The season has changed. Every generation faces moments when faithfulness requires fresh thinking. We believe this is one of those moments.

Our board and leadership are aligned. The ministry is experiencing real growth. And practically speaking, years of increasing confusion with similarly named organizations has made it harder to clearly communicate who we are, where we serve, and what God is doing through this work. That confusion has a cost. This change removes it.

One

One represents our shared identity and purpose in Christ. Before sending His disciples into the world, Jesus prayed that they would be one (John 17:20–23). Though we come from different churches, cultures, and backgrounds, we are united by one Lord, one faith, one baptism, and one God and Father of all (Ephesians 4:5–6). United in Him, we can accomplish far more together than we ever could alone.

Collaboration. We believe the Great Commission is fulfilled best when the Body of Christ works together, through the local church, alongside ministry partners, and in unity with one another (Philippians 2:2).

The mission is too big for any one of us and too important to do in isolation. Collaboration isn’t a strategy; it’s obedience to how Christ designed His Church to work. This is why the spelling matters. Hidden inside “Commission” is a co-mission, not a solo assignment, but a shared one.

Everything we do, from humanitarian aid and leadership training to church planting, literature distribution, and discipleship, flows from that commission.
Not many missions.
Not competing missions.
One mission.

OneCoMission is more than a new name. It’s a declaration of what we believe, and this is the work we are inviting you into.

One Church. One Mission. Together.

Everything that matters stays exactly the same.

We will continue to go to nations hostile to the Gospel. We will continue to equip local believers and strengthen the Church
where it is most vulnerable. We will continue to meet the spiritual and physical needs of people who have never once heard the name of Jesus.

The name is new.
The mission is not.

If anything, we believe this change sharpens our focus and increases our capacity to do the work more effectively.

In the coming months you will begin to see our new name and visual identity across our print and digital communications.

  • All recurring gifts will process as normal. Your giving continues without interruption.
  • Our legal entities remain unchanged, which means existing bequests and estate documents remain fully valid.
  • If you have included this ministry in your legacy giving, you do not need to take any immediate action.

We will continue to communicate clearly with you about any updates as they arise.

The name World Compassion carries decades of faithfulness. Stories of transformed lives. Fruit that will last far beyond any name on a letterhead.

We are not leaving that behind. We are building on it.

There are still billions of people who have never heard the Gospel. OneCoMission exists because we are convinced that the Great Commission is not optional and it is not finished.
